Description:

Dickinson takes place “during Emily Dickinson’s era with a modern sensibility and tone. It takes viewers into the world of Emily, audaciously exploring the constraints of society, gender, and family from the perspective of a budding writer who doesn’t fit into her own time through her imaginative point of view. Dickinson is Emily’s coming-of-age story – one woman’s fight to get her voice heard.”

Review:

The biographic and historic aspects of Emily’s life in the 1800s mixed with humour and a touch of modernity is very entertaining. Social criticism and empowerment colour the series, especially because of the female characters. The tragic aspects of relationships between women during this era are shown differently than they usually are in movies tackling similar subjects. This series is refreshing and light but makes you think.
